She is working much harder both on and off the court lately and, while this may be heart ruling head, I think she could give Safina a run for her money. Well I certainly hope so! I will probably have a small wager on her at odds around 6/1.

I have been looking through the mens matches for tonight and couldn't believe that the bookies have Juan Ignacio Chela as the underdog in his match with Victor Hanescu.

Victor Hanescu has been absolutely awful of late and he pulled out of the Hopman Cup earlier this month with a groin injury after losing the first set of his match against Tommy Robredo. Him pulling out also gave Spain a walkover in the doubles tournament.

I don't know just how bad his groin injury is but surely, you don't want to be coming into an open carrying the risk, it is obviously going to be playing on his mind and I fully expect Chela to take advantage of this and send him sprinting & stretching all over the place.

Personally, I would have the market the other way round here, despite their rankings.

Monday's Racing

Two others have attracted my attention at decent prices...

Thurles 3:55 Inoma James has only won twice in his career, both on heavy ground (which he should have today). One of those wins was here at Thurles on his penultimate outing and, while he has never won off a mark as high as todays, he should be thereabouts with conditions to suit. Currently priced at 11/1 with several bookmakers and worthy of an each way punt in my book.

Wolverhampton 5:20 Prince Sabaah, it's unusual to see a Venitia Williams trained horse competing on the flat, let alone the all weather and she is probably sending him here to see if he retains the ability he showed before he went jumping. However, having only raced once here in the past, he did win the race and on his only other venture on the all weather, he was a respectable fourth in a class 2 race at Lingfield. Goes well when fresh and hasn't raced since a hurdle race at Wincanton back in March of last year so things look to be in his favour and a good run looks assured. 12/1 is generally available as I write.

Looking at the FA Cup match between Birmingham and Nottingham Forest Kick Off at 19:45 GMT, one bet stands out to me. Comparing Birmingham's home games with Forest's away matches, 79% of their matches have finished under 2.5 goals.

We can see that neither side likes to give goals away comparing home team form with away team form

Ave Goals Per Match: B'Ham (home): 1.36 / Forest (away): 1.62
Ave Goals Scored: B'Ham (home): 0.82 / Forest (away): 1.00
Ave Goals Conceded: B'Ham (home): 0.55 / Forest (away): 0.62

This looks to me to be a strong statistical pointer to go UNDER 2.5 GOALS @ 1.67 with Blue Square.

The live match on ITV4 tonight is Coventry vs Portsmouth Kick Off at 19:45 GMT

I fancy the Championship side (Coventry) to knock out their Premiership rivals tonight.

Portsmouth have too much on their plate fighting for Premiership survival, currently rock bottom and four points adrift of 19th placed Hull.

They are a team struggling for form and, while Coventry are only sitting mid-table in the Championship, they will see this as an ideal opportunity to claim a Premier League scalp and earn their right to play host to Sunderland in the fourth round.

Coventry to win @ 3.15 with Betfair.

Monday review

The horses didn't do anything to get exited about but as I say, small stakes is the key at the moment. The trouble is, we have lost all this racing to the snow, now that it's melting, there are concerns over the soggy ground! We just can't win!

Sadly, Kuznetsova let me down in the tennis, losing her match 0-2 but Dulko won hers and, as I do singles, the loss wasn't as bad as it could have been.

The football tip was by far my best effort of the day with Manchester City winning 4-1 so both the Asian Handicap and the HalfTime/FullTime bets proved profitable.

I am just browsing for today's racing and shall post shortly.

Premiership football

Manchester City play host to Blackburn Rovers tonight, kick off at 8:00pm GMT.

Normally I would recommend a draw in a local derby of this kind, however, I think the home side will prove too strong for their visitors tonight.

Manchester City have played well most of the season but have looked a slightly stronger team since the new manager was put in place when Mark Hughes was (wrongfully in my mind) sent packing. Since Roberto Mancini took over, they haven't conceded a single goal, granted it's only 3 matches but they do appear to be fighting harder at the back now and with the fire power they have, Blackburn may well find themselves on the wrong side of a 3 or 4 goal kicking here.

Recommended bet/s:

Asian Handicap, take Manchester City -1.5 @ 2.4 with Bet365
Half time/Full time result: take Home/Home (Man City to be winning at half time & full time) @ 2.25 with Paddy Power.

Hello and welcome to my sports betting blog.

Some of you may remember me from my free tipping site I ran a year or two ago, well I'm back and as usual, all my tips are FREE!

Time is the main reason I gave up with the site, it seemed to take up any spare time I had. However, I am hoping the blog is going to be much easier for me and not consume as much effort as running a full website did.
